Strange Happenings Near Swope Park

A lot is going on around Swope Park in Kansas City and its not about the Kansas City Zoo, the golf course, or Starlight Theater.  Something very strange has been going on in this area because people keep seeing things that defy explanation. Most people don't talk about what they are seeing for fear of ridicule, but a few brave souls have come forward to file reports with Quest Investigation Group, MUFON, and others over the past few years.

QIG compiled a list of events which occurred in the area between 63rd Street and 97th, and 71 hwy and 435 hwy between 2005 and 2020. There is an odd mix of reports which include four sightings of winged humanoid creatures, a Bigfoot, 125 glowing balls of light, and at least two UFOs.  The area heavily wooded, has two lakes, and a river running north to south on the west side. This is a perfect place for cryptid creatures and UFOs to hide, and a central hub in Kansas City. In April of 2012 Kansas City had a rash of UFO sightings which included a non-human entity witnessed by an ex-police officer in Raytown, which is a suburb located east of Kansas City, and a very large craft over Lee's Summit, Missouri in the early morning hours right after the balls of light were seen near 435 Hwy. Investigators believe that the Lee's Summit craft and the balls of light incident may be related.

Balls of Light:

May 14, 2012. An insurance salesman was traveling south on I-435 Hwy when he noticed orange balls of light shooting at high speed horizontally out of the tree line to his east. The sight was so strange that he pulled over onto the shoulder of the highway to get a better look at what was going on. Another vehicle did the same and both men got out of their cars. This is not something one would normally do at this location due to the heavy traffic, but they just had to get a better look. The first witness spoke to me about the incident, and he said that the second man called a friend of his who lived on 63rd street and asked him to go out side to see if he could see the lights. The man did so, and took several photos of the objects. The three men watched as 125 balls of light shot out of the tree line, split into three lights each, then moved up into the clouds at a specific location. They also saw a large ball of light split in to five, then move up in the same spot. If these had been sky lanterns or fireworks they would not have moved as they did. They could see no further into the clouds and don't know what may have been in the cloud. None of the witnesses could see what the balls of light were coming from inside the trees.

Diamond Shaped Craft: Also in April of 2012 a husband and wife had just finished shooting a video for a corporate client and were headed home at 10:00 pm. They were traveling north on 435 highway when they noticed a diamond-shaped craft traveling on the east side of the road next to the wooded area. The craft mimicked their speed and slowed down or sped up as they did. The two witnesses were dumbfounded, as the craft they were observing made no sound and appeared to have no propulsion system, and no wings. The craft then sped up slightly, and crossed the highway in front of them as they approached I-70. The craft headed due west towards downtown Kansas City.

UFO Chased by Helicopters: In August of 2015 two men and a woman were sitting in the pavilion at Swope Park at approximately 10:30 pm when they noticed a saucer-shaped silver UFO come over a hillside approximately 1/2 mile from their position. It hovered and moved around the area very slowly for several minutes. As they stood looking at this in awe, they noticed several helicopters move into the area. The UFO moved up and back and forth, with the helicopters in pursuit, but they were no match for the speed of the UFO. The craft then took off at rapid speed, leaving the helicopters behind. After a few minutes, the helicopters left the area. The witnesses thought the incident was over, when the UFO returned and went about its previous activity, apparently scanning the ground. It finally left, and the witnesses went home. The next morning, one of the witnesses passed the area on his way to work and noticed that the hillside where the UFO had been located was on fire and there were several fire trucks on the scene putting the fire out.

August 2005: Kansas City, MO. As reported by Ken Gerhard in his book "Encounters With Flying Humanoids," Investigator Lon Strickler reported that two sisters in the Swope Park area of Kansas City heard a loud noise and looked up to see a gigantic bird with a 12' -18' wingspan hopping from tree branch to tree branch. It had leathery skin and bat-like wings, a curved beak, with dark eyes. The two women ran inside the house and one of them fainted. KC MO near Swope Park

(continued from the above report from the year 2000) The same creature returned in the evening and made a sound like a dog being choked, then cavorted among the street lights. 2011: KC MO near Swope Park. (continued from the above report) A cousin saw the same creature when he left their house one evening. It hopped behind the taillights of his car. It had gigantic wings and a fat body.

June, 2020: A man noticed a shadow on the ground as he stood outside in the backyard of a friend's house and looked up to see a humanoid shaped creature the size of a man with huge bat-like wings just above them at tree level and glide off into the distance. He saw no features, but said that the creature appeared to have legs and arms.

Bigfoot:

The back yard is wooded but this is in a suburban area.The witness was outside in his back yard when a rock came flying by, almost hitting him but it hit the side of the house instead. He turned to see where the rock had come from and he heard a snort coming from a wooded area behind his house. He was astonished to see an eight foot tall Bigfoot standing next to and partially behind a large tree. The creature growled and threw another rock. The witness said that the creature had large shoulders and a large conical shaped head. The witness immediately went back inside his house and did not go back outside until the next morning.

Why Swope Park? At 1,805 acres, it is the 51st-largest municipal park in the United States, and the largest park in Kansas City. It is named in honor of Colonel Thomas H. Swope, a philanthropist who donated the land to the city in 1896. (Editor's note: Oddly, the Swope family are my relatives- my great-grandmother was Minnie Swope).

It seems as though the Swope Park area is the perfect habitat for cryptids and UFOs. After investigating both for many years, I am now of the opinion that perhaps these are not two separate subjects, and that the cryptid creatures may be related to UFOs, if not aliens themselves. There are just two many instances where cryptid creatures and UFOs are seen at the same time or in the same location.

There are not many areas near this site that would be a good site to conceal anything as it is mostly suburban with houses, roads, and highways. Swope Park is unique in that it offers plenty of areas to hide.

The northern most part of the park is located at exactly 39 degrees latitude, which is the major "Paranormal Highway" in this area, along with 49/71 Hwy south. It seems that an inordinate amount of strange unexplained events occur along these two lines. The 39 degree line remains stationary, while the 49/71 paranormal highway literally follows the highway as it twists and turns all the way into Arkansas to the south. Many of the UFO and paranormal investigations we do are along these lines. What that means is anyone's guess.

Seriously Haunted Doll is up For Sale

There's only so much a paranormal investigator can take.

This doll was purchased from a local antique store in Independence, Missouri and placed in the birthplace of Hollywood actress Ginger Rogers in Independence in 2017. The idea was to show a child's room from 1911 when Ginger was born. The doll was put in place before the house opened to the public, and right away employees started to notice that things just were not right with the doll. Everyone who saw her knew she was haunted.

Then when the museum was opened, visitors said it gave them the creeps. Most people wouldn't even go near it. Wehad two paranormal teams come investigate and they both said that they got high EMF and REM Pod readings when they approached the doll, as well as a creepy feeling.

One evening I was on site with a team who was investigating and we heard a child's voice coming from the area where the doll was sitting. I had enough, and took the doll away to my office. We closed the museum recently. Weird things have been happening here like lights going off and strange noises we can't find a source for, so now I just want the doll gone!

President Trump Has 'Interesting" Details on Roswell

In a Father's Day Special titled Triggered President Donald Trump told his son that he knows details of US government secrets on extraterrestrial life, hinting he knew "interesting" information about a rumored UFO crash in Roswell, New Mexico.

Donald Trump Jr. and President Trump discussed this as part of a Father's Day Special titled Triggered.

Trump Jr. asked "Before you leave office, will you let us know if there are aliens? Because this is the only thing I really want to know. I want to know what's going on. Would you ever open up Roswell and let us know what's going on there?" 

"So many people ask me that question," the President said. "There are millions and millions of people that want to go there, that want to see it.

"I won't talk to you about what I know about it but it's very interesting. But Roswell is a very interesting place with a lot of people that would like to know what's going on."

Further pushed by his son about whether he would ever reveal what he knows, Trump replied: "I'll have to think about that one," leaving one to speculate what exactly President Trump does know and if he will ever reveal it to the public. 

Some UFO investigators speculate that this interview was set up as a sort of "pre-disclosure," getting people ready to hear the truth.  We can only hope this is the case.

Bigfoot sighting in Kansas City, Missouri June 7, 2020

6-20-2020:

I received a report from a man in Kansas City who saw and heard a Bigfoot near his house on 79th St. and 71 Highway in KC MO. It threw rocks, growled, and snorted. This happened  on or about June 7. It was after dark but the witness could see the creature standing behind a tree, and it kept peeking around the tree. The back yard is wooded but this is in a suburban area.

The witness was outside in his back yard when a rock came flying by, almost hitting him but it hit the side of the house instead. He turned to see where the rock had come from and he heard a snort coming from a wooded area behind his house. He was astonished to see an eight foot tall Bigfoot standing next to and partially behind a large tree. The creature growled and threw another rock. The witness said that the creature had large shoulders and a large conical shaped head. The witness immediately went back inside his house and did not go back outside until the next morning.

Note: This area is known for unusual events, Mothman,and UFO sightings, but to my knowledge it is the first time a Bigfoot has been reported.

The same witness reported a sighting of a winged humanoid just a short distance away from this site. Nearby is Swope Park which is a heavily wooded area, and the Little Blue River.

Time Anomalies

I’ve had some rather strange experiences with time over the years but an event in 2015 opened my eyes to the possibility that we all have the ability to change time as we desire.  I am a third-generation psychic with clairsentient, clairaudient, and clairvoyant abilities. I have had some random experiences with time shifts in the past, but recently have noticed that I can slow time down so that I can better observe my surroundings.

Years ago I started noticing bright blue-white lights darting around one of the trees in my back yard.  I watched the lights of and on for a few months while sitting in the hot tub on our back deck, when one day in the middle of winter I had the idea that I could communicate with the lights if I wanted to.  I asked what they were and actually got an answer!  I got telepathic communication from a male voice who identified himself as the “Spirit of the Tree.” He stated that that the tiny lights that darted about the tree were “Tree Sprites.” When I questioned him further  he told me that the Tree Sprites were the energy of the tree and that they told it when to grow new limbs and leaves, when to go dormant for the winter, and when to die.  I noticed that the lights made patterns of new limbs that appeared to me as a dark line with a white glow around them.  Sure enough, in the Spring new limbs grew in the exact same locations.

I later noticed trails following the lights, and that the orbs moved more slowly at times. I thought that perhaps the straight lines they sometimes made looked like rods that some people have reported seeing.  The tiny dots of light would appear for three to four seconds, rather than for a half a second as they usually did.  I pondered this for a while, then realized something that could be very important.  Perhaps the lights were not actually moving more slowly— but rather I changed my time perspective, and as the observer it just appeared to me that the lights moved more slowly.  Then I remembered some odd experiences I had in the past that could be related to this phenomena.

In 1976 during my freshman year at CMSU in Warrensburg, Missouri an event occurred that I’ve never found a good explanation for.  My boyfriend walked me across campus to my dorm one evening, and while walking I noticed that a girl in front of me had on the exact same type of white jacket that I did.  As we approached and passed her I turned to look at her, and she and I stopped momentarily in disbelief.  She and I looked exactly the same, and had on the exact same jacket, jeans, and shoes. We both had the same purse, too.  The only thing different was that she was carrying some books and I had none.   We were both so shocked that we didn’t say a word to each other, but walked away in different directions.  I don’t know why we did that—today I certainly would have stopped and talked but for some reason neither of us said anything.  The next day several of my friends mentioned seeing me in the bar the night before, and they were mad that I would not respond to them.  They would not believe me when I told them that I was not in the bar that night, but had band rehearsal and went home at around 10:00 PM. 

      In the year 2000, I approached a street that leads to my house when I saw a car exactly like mine came to a stop at the stop sign, then turn onto the street I was driving on.  I was shocked to see that it was MY car with my license plate and I was driving it!  Obviously, I had time-traveled somehow.

    In 2003 my husband and I and a friend of ours went to the Bahamas for vacation. As we approached the island I noticed a sudden change in energy.  Something wasn’t quite right but I didn’t know what it was.  I asked the flight attendant if we were anywhere near the Bermuda Triangle, and sure enough, we were in it.  No one else could feel the shift in energy.  I started to feel strange and got more and more sick as the days went by.  At one point, we were on a tour when I became very ill and had to be taken back to the hotel.  As I lay in bed I could feel my body floating up and thought that I might die right there. 

     All of a sudden I felt like I slammed down into something, and looked down to see that I was standing in my 11-year old body!  My mother, brother and sister were in the basement room looking at me as I screamed out. I realized what was going on—I was time-traveling in my own body!  Being sick must have had something to do with it.  I spent approximately three or four minutes with my family, told them what was going on and made observations about their appearance such as the glasses they wore and the red rash my brother had around his lips from eating too many tomatoes, and items in the room. 

     I remember thinking that I didn’t know how much time I had so I should use this time to tell them about anything important.  I told my sister not to go in the water when we would take a vacation to Corpus Cristi a few years later, because she would be stung by a man-o-war jellyfish that would set off Lupus in her body.  The three of them did not believe a word I was saying.  I then noticed the smell of pipe tobacco that I hadn’t smelled since my grandfather died in 1972. 

     Next, I ran up the stairs to talk to my grandmother, who was sitting at the kitchen table as she usually did.  She died in 1985 and left me a letter but I never found it.  I asked her where she would leave the letter for me in the future and she knocked on the kitchen table and said she’d leave it inside the table.  Then I went into the  living room to visit my grandfather, who was sitting in his favorite easy chair and smoking a pipe.  I told him what was going on and he said he believed me.  We talked for a few minutes and then suddenly I was transported back to my present body with a hard slam that hurt.  I had an instant migraine headache and became nauseous, but recovered by the next day and was glad to get out of the Bahamas and go home.  I asked my family if they remembered me doing anything strange at age 11 but my sister and mother did not recall anything.  However, my brother did remember it and even remembered the rash he had from the tomatoes. My grandmother's letter never showed up but I suspect that someone else in the family found it and kept it.

     In 2005 I drove to Columbia, Missouri to speak to an annual meeting of state Insurance Adjusters.  I was running a little late because my computer crashed the night before and I had to stay up all night to redo my presentation. The drive from Independence to Columbia usually takes two and one-half hours driving at 60 miles per hour.  I remember wishing I could get there faster, but luckily arrived in time for my talk at 9:00 AM.  We had computer problems and I didn’t start my talk until 10:00 A.M.  I left at exactly 12:00 noon to commute back home and called my secretary on my cell phone to tell her I was leaving and to expect me at 2:30 P.M.  The entire trip was uneventful and everything seemed to be normal.  However, I arrived at the office at 1:00 P.M., and we noticed that only one hour had passed since I left Columbia.  My secretary was stunned and so was I.  This was physically impossible, unless you take in to account the possibility of a time anomaly. The trip is normally 2 hours and 15 minutes.

     In 2006 I drove down a busy main road to pick my husband up at an auto repair shop.  I was running a few minutes late and wanted to get there fast.  During the drive the cars around me suddenly slowed down to a crawl— it was like watching them move in slow motion.  Even a person walking on the street seemed to be moving in slow motion while I seemed to be moving at a “normal” speed, and felt perfectly fine.  This lasted for a full two to three minutes and upon arrival at the shop everything went back to normal speed. I thought I experienced some type of time warp.

     In the fall of 2018 I drove to Union, Missouri to participate in a UFO/paranormal investigation for MUFON. I was accompanied by Jean Walker, who is also an investigator. On our way home we had 1 hour of missing time that we cannot account for. Strange things happened at the investigation site and on the way home, which is not uncommon. I've had this happen on several occasions.

     This sort of thing probably happens to other people.  I don’t know if being psychic or being a UFO contactee has anything to do with it or not.  I have been regressed recently in an attempt to explain some missing time and an implant, so I know I’ve had encounters with extra-terrestrials.  Perhaps being in proximity to a UFO that time travels changes your view of the world, or your ability to manipulate your world.
